The Dalai Lama
“The Power of Compassion”
“Compassion The Key To Happiness”
"I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. That is clear. Whether one believes in religion or not, whether one believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think the very motion of our life is towards happiness. "
~ HIS HOLINESS THE XIVth DALAI LAMA ~
The Dalai Lama defines compassion as respect - not pity for others. He termed it something more than love, which he said is too often, based on others attitudes towards oneself. Recently before an audience of 25,000 people at Skydome in Toronto he shared his wisdom, stating, “Compassion is a deep value necessary for being a human being”. The core message that afternoon was, that compassion brings inner strength and truth, making it a powerful tool to achieve goals and happiness.
During his stay in Toronto, The Dalai Lama was the recipient of a University of Toronto honorary doctorate, the highest honor the university bestows. Before 1700 invited guests at his convocation, he asked the academic world to pay more attention to the promotion of human values, including compassion, love, forgiveness, and tolerance.
The Dalai Lama shared more of his wisdom with the following:
“Dialogue is the only way to resolve conflict”
“When you have truth, you have more confidence”
“The destruction of your enemy, is the destruction of yourself”
“Cultivate a calm mind”
“ A calm mind & compassion, is good for physical health”
Thank you Dalai Lama for sharing your wisdom with the people of Canada. I applaud your efforts; and wish you a safe journey as you continue to enlighten the world with your message of “The Power of Compassion”

Dear Friends,
The universe works in truly mysterious ways. It brought me to the island of Providenciales in The Turks & Caicos Islands from Toronto, Canada in the early 90’s. Living in this small Caribbean community, stimulated my mind, body, spirit, and soul. I had never lived in a small community before, and I was amazed that this big city guy could find peace, and happiness on this small island. I have many fond memories of my time spent with the people of The Turks & Caicos Islands - friendships I will cherish forever. The most significant aspect of my time in Providenciales, was the creation of The Art of Loving. It was from this little spec of land in the Atlantic Ocean that I started to spread my message of the importance of love to the world.
At the beginning of 2001, I guess the universe decided I needed change -- not that I was looking for upheaval in my life. I found myself making the hardest decision I have ever made in my life. I said farewell to my friends, my island home, and moved to San Jose, Costa Rica. It did not take me long at all to adapt to my new life, in this small Central American country. Once again I established myself in a new community, and made many friends. I was truly at home in Costa Rica - I had found once again, as the locals say, “Pura Vida”, Pure Life. My life’s journey continued here, growing more as an individual, learning about life, in a different part of the world. The Art of Loving continued its growth also - fueled by my new experiences, thoughts, and philosophies about life.
In the summer of 2002, once again the universe decided on change again for yours truly. The powers that be -- sent me back to Toronto, Canada, where my journey started. I was not the least bit amused this time about moving back to cold Canada, and I left Costa Rica, kicking and screaming at the universe. I guess all good things must come to an end, and a new chapter must begin.
So here I am today back in Toronto, Canada, the place of my birth, and the place where I have spent many of my 48 years of life. Looking back today, I see why the universe brought me to Toronto. There were many friends, and my family that needed my physical presence, love and support. Coming back has introduced me to many new people, some who have become amazing friends today. I also have been fortunate to have the opportunity to say good-bye to old friends who have passed away since my return.
The Art of Loving now continues from our new location in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto, Canada.
